When a brand discontinues a product that you totally love, it is inevitable that the quest for a new favourite will soon begin. A couple of months ago, my favourite makeup remover and cleanser were discontinued. After I had turned the house upside down looking for any bottles with a couple of uses left (and then sat on my bathroom floor trying to cut the top of the bottle off to get one more use), I decided it was time to find a new favourite (bah humbug).

Here are a few reasons why I was reluctant to experiment with new makeup removers and cleansers:

  1. I am a creature of habit
  2. I have very dry skin and sensitive eyes
  3. I wear a lot of makeup (mainly mascara – which is known for being a pain to get off).

So, in a nutshell, my new makeup remover has to be tough and gentle at the same time, it can’t dry my skin out and it has to be as impressive as my old favourite.

With all this in mind, I tried a few different cleansers but I was always left with a little nagging disappointment, for example it hurt my eyes, or it took too much scrubbing to get my mascara off, I didn’t like the smell – you name it, I found a problem with it! That was until the Caudalie Gentle Cleansing Milk and Toning Lotion was put on my desk by Anna. I don’t usually use a toner, so I was a little reluctant to take these home to try them as I thought they would probably just go to waste in my bathroom. But I am so, so glad I did!

The cleanser has such a light, pleasant and refreshing smell that it really invigorates you during your morning shower. In the evening, it is really effective at removing all my eye makeup, yet so gentle that it doesn’t even slightly sting my eyes. After I have finished cleansing, I then go on to use the toner and I am always shocked at how well it finishes cleansing my skin – even if I am sure there is not one bit of makeup or dirt left on my face – it always just manages to take that extra little bit off. I now see why using a toner is such an important step between cleansing and moisturising.

After I had already started to fall in love with these, the Caudalie Foaming Cleanser and Divine Oil also appeared on my desk, so naturally I had to give these a go! I have only used these a couple of times, but I am so impressed already. The Foaming Cleanser is so light, is effective at removing my makeup and leaves my skin feeling clean but not tight – it really is a pleasure to use.

The Divine Oil is such a light, fragrant moisturiser that I think it is perfect for those days when you feel like your skin needs a treat. It leaves your skin feeling so moisturised and is a good all rounder – you can use it on skin, nails, hair – and even in your bath (I think I might have to try that sooner rather than later!).

A massive bonus for me is that they are natural products so I know I am putting no nasties on my skin. I think it’s safe to say I have definitely become a Caudalie convert – and I am already looking forward to the next lovely product I discover from them!
