Whatever your opinion on Kate Moss there can be no denying the influence she’s had on everything from our wardrobes (a great pair of jeans really will take you anywhere) to our makeup bags (smoky eyeliner? check!). And she’s done it all whilst ignoring trends, fads and the rest of the crowd.

We thought we’d pay tribute by picking three looks to love from one lady who definitely does it HER way.

Early Kate

Right from the start of her career in the limelight, Kate has pioneered a less is more look. Going out doesn’t have to mean layers of makeup and a perfectly coiffed do (thank goodness!). Kate gives us a masterclass in simplicity and elegance.

Get the look: Shun peplums, ruffles and frou frou and pick a simple silhouette in a classic monochrome palette. This silver Topshop number ticks all the boxes and will look elegant with a simple black jacket if you prefer to keep your arms covered.

Classic Kate

Miss Moss is a great example of someone who knows what works for them and sticks with it. Her formula for success? Mussy hair, a slick of eyeliner and the merest hint of bronze.

Get the look: Spritz just-washed hair with a texturising spray (try Bumble and bumble’s Surf Spray) before blow drying roughly. Boost shine (and help protect against the elements with MoroccanOil’s Glimmer Shine Spray.

Gamine chic

BUT… she’s not afraid to mix it up a little. Just as she became synonymous with long and tumbling ‘bed head’ locks she mixed it up and went for an elfin crop. And we loved it. Proof that this short and practical style can be chic and easy to wear.

Get the look: Ask your hairdresser to recommend the best crop for your face shape and hair type and tell them how much time you’d ideally like to spend on styling it. There are some gorgeous cuts out there to choose from. We loved Robin Wright’s longer-fringed elegant crop at the Golden Globes and Michelle Williams beautifully demonstrates how to make the transition from uber-short pixie to a soft look with a bit more length.

As for Kate, we can’t wait to see what her next decade brings but we expect her to do it in style!
