Dry and dull skin can be caused by many different things, age, alcohol, work environment, lack of sleep, dehydration and the most common of all, sun damage. Often after a heavy night or a long shift at work I find my skin becomes dull and lifeless and no amount of makeup will help. I have come to realise that makeup is not the answer to my hangover days, all I need is a good facial treatment that I can do from the comfort of my own home.

Here is a step by step guide on how to treat tired skin, (these products can be used together or with any other regime you may already have.)

Cleanse:

Always start by cleansing the skin right the way down to your collar bone. When choosing a cleanser it is usually down to skin type and preference, I’m old school and a simple cream cleanser that can be used to remove all traces of makeup around the eye area and face suits me perfectly (this is also purely for the fact I’m lazy and this does 3 jobs in one). My all-time favourite is “Yes To Carrots Eye & Face Makeup Remover” which is suitable for all skin types and is perfect for anybody suffering with sensitive eyes, like myself.

Treat:

Now is the time to treat the skin and relax with a face mask, my recent find is one of our newer brands Elemental Herbology Facial Detox Purifying Face Mask. This is perfect if you have overdone it a little and your skin needs detoxing. The clay mask will stop any spots in their tracks and deeply cleanse. It contains mineral rich organic Amazonian clay that will help eliminate toxins from the surface of the skin while gently exfoliating and softening leaving the skin soft, humidified and glowing. Apply the mask to dry, clean skin and leave for 10 minutes before removing with a warm flannel.

Revive:

Your skin should already be feeling fresher and more illuminated, but now for the magic. To give your skin that instant hydration and illumination, Korres Wild Rose Serum is the only answer. This ultra-concentrated serum will instantly firm and smooth out any lines, as it contains an active agent derived from wheat proteins that have clinically proven to considerably reduce the number depth and length of wrinkles. The wild rose oil is a natural source of vitamin C, which demonstrates significant repairing activity to skin colour disorders adding brightness and radiance to skin.

Eyes:

The eyes are always the sign of tiredness, and there are many myths on what is the best solution for puffiness such as cucumbers, cold spoons, and eye masks, but really do any of these actually work? Well, I have found one product that does and that is Ole Henriksen’s Ultimate Lift Eye Gel. The anti-puffiness eye gel will instantly revitalise tired or irritated eyes and will smooth the often neglected eye zone. Simply apply a small amount under the eyes morning and night or whenever needed.

Finish:

Now your skin should be feeling refreshed and alive which means the last thing you want to do is plaster on all that slap, so I would recommend finishing off with Caudalie’s Teint Divin Tinted Moisturiser. This silky fluid moisturises, evens and brightens the complexion, creating an immediate healthy, natural look leaving you feeling brand new.
