To celebrate the coming of the new season this month, we’re launching our new Inspired by Provenance campaign, focusing on 5 of our most-loved natural skincare brands. We invite you to travel with us through Europe to discover the secret properties of seaweed with Guam, soothing organics with Neal’s Yard Remedies, and the healing power of grapes in France with Caudalie. But first, join us in Athens, as we invite you to uncover the history behind Greek brand Korres.

Can you tell us a little bit about Korres and the concept behind the brand?

Korres emerged in 1996 out of Athens’ first ever homeopathic pharmacy where George used to work. The first Korres product was an aromatic herbal syrup with honey and aniseed, a recipe inspired by “rakomelon”, a warming spirit-with-honey concoction, which George’s grandfather used to favour in his hometown on the island of Naxos. The first ever skincare product was the Wild Rose 24-hour Cream – which continues to be a worldwide bestseller. Today the Korres portfolio includes over 400 natural and certified organic products, featuring a skin and hair care range, a makeup line as well as sun care products and herbal preparations. All products are developed based on four groups of natural ingredients: herbs with pharmaceutical properties, Greek flora herbs, food ingredients and high-efficacy natural ingredients.

The use of specific synthetic compounds such as petroleum derivatives, silicones, propylene glycol, ethanolamines and ammonia amongst others, is avoided and replaced with equally effective, beneficial and skin friendly natural ingredients. The brand’s core values remain the same as in its pharmacy days – the use of herbs and natural ingredients of the highest quality; skin and environmentally friendly products with clinically tested effectiveness; affordable for every day use yet of interesting aesthetics with strong artistic direction. The greatest company mission is the on-going investment in research regarding new technologies and ingredients.

What inspired your new Korres Coconut range?

Reminiscent of long summer afternoons and full-moon walks on sandy beaches, the new Korres Coconut Milk body line instantly sets the mood for an idyllic getaway. Juicy, exotic coconuts ‘meet’ the perfectly sweet and creamy aroma of vanilla.

What’s your favourite product in the Korres line and why?

My current favourite is our latest anti-ageing cream – the Quercetin & Oak Anti-ageing & Anti-wrinkle Light Texture Cream. It is part of an overall collection based on a Nobel awarded discovery, and the first natural anti-ageing line to achieve higher scores on all crash tests with some of the market’s top selling conventional anti ageing creams. If I could get away with a second choice, I would add the ultimate Korres classic, our Yoghurt Cooling Gel with edible Greek yoghurt!

Which Korres skincare products do you never leave the house without?

What are your Korres recommendations for mid summer season?

Moisturising and sun protection is essential. Makeup wise, I would opt for a fresh-looking face. For a radiant look and broad spectrum sun protection [SPF 30], try Korres Watermelon Lightweight Tinted Moisturiser.

  1. Following breast cancer treatment i started my quest for cosmetics with low toxicity a lot of which were simply not up to the task. I was delighted when I discovered Korres Orange Blossom Cleansing Emulsion and told everyone who would listen how great it was. Inexplicably it then disappeared from the market and I am afraid alternatives are not nearly as nice. I am now using other cleansers but still have not find the right one. Please bring it back.

Hello and thank you for interesting Website.

I first became introduced to Korres whilst in Paleochora, where I stay and work with Greek Animal Rescue. I found the Korres sun protection to be excellent. I have always avoided any commercial chemical suncreams and have never been satisfied with other products. What I would like information about is why the Factor SPF15 is being removed? I have naturally olive skin and SPF15 gave me the protection I felt was adequate. I would welcome your comments. Thank you.
