When I heard about the product swap at work, I was very excited about trying a new product that I wouldn’t normally buy for myself. When my buyer, the lovely Olivia, asked for some ideas, I requested something that would help me get ‘bikini ready’ for my upcoming holiday to Marbella, so she selected Guam Seaweed Cellulite Mud for me to try. This product, along with the whole Guam range, has brilliant reviews and I couldn’t wait to try it out!

I live a fairly healthy lifestyle; I exercise weekly, drink a litre of water a day and (try to) eat a healthy diet, but if the research is true this won’t stop me getting cellulite as it is in your genes…  and there is no cure! I was pretty happy to also read that fizzy drinks do not give give you cellulite as I previously believed, so I can now feel slightly less guilty about my diet coke addiction. That being said, if you do have cellulite there are things you can do to minimise its appearance such as exercise, improving your diet, dry body brushing and cellulite creams/salon treatments. I don’t have a great amount of cellulite on my thighs but there is some there that I would prefer was not!

Guam Seaweed Cellulite Mud states to ‘reduce nodules and adipose fatty tissue, increase circulation and drain toxins from the body’. I must admit I was slightly dubious about the results I would get after trying many high street brand cellulite creams and seeing little or no results, but I am very impressed with this product.

Seaweed Cellulite Mud is available in 500g or 1kg. I had a 500g tub and this provided me with about five days of applications. For the first few applications you are instructed to use the mud consecutively over three days, then every 2 days, then gradually down to once a week and then monthly as a maintenance programme. I will say it is quite a time consuming (and messy!) procedure and if you’re looking for a quick fix that you can put on and leave to do its job then this isn’t the product for you. But if you’re prepared to put in a bit of time and effort, then you will get good results.

I recommend standing in the bath whilst you apply the mud as it did drip slightly and ended up in more places than just my thighs! You need to apply the mud generously to where it’s required and then wrap the treated area in cling film and leave it work its magic for 45 minutes. You will experience a heating sensation and possible reddening of the skin when applied due to the increased circulation. I did find my first couple of applications slightly uncomfortable and my thighs were pretty itchy but I was also quite pleased with this in a weird way as I felt like it must be doing something!

After 45 minutes you then remove the cling film and shower the mud off. I have also been rinsing in cold water and would recommend giving this a go if you are brave enough! Alternating between warm water and cold water is thought by some people to have health benefits including improving circulation and boosting your immune system. Once showered, apply your regular moisturiser and spend a bit longer massaging it into your thighs. Guam have a selection of creams which you can apply after the Cellulite Mud for maximum results.

I am now in my second week of using Guam Seaweed Cellulite Mud, applying it every two days and I have definitely noticed an improvement. As I said, I don’t have a great amount of cellulite but my skin does appear to be a lot smoother and toned and I will definitely feel more confident when it comes to putting my bikini on next week!
