Despite being an adult, the tendency to break out worse than a 15-year-old teenager never diminishes. Not only am I trying to fend off wrinkles, now I have to battle with my teenage spots once again. So, I have trawled the market for a blemish busting remedy to help, and the ones I love the most are Skin Doctors Zit Zapper and the Murad acne range.

The Zit Zapper works to unclog pores, dry out and cleanse affected area, calm and reduce the appearance of ugly red inflammation. It comes in a handy applicator stick with a soft cotton sponge end to aid painless and easy application; this allows the product to be spread on the areas without having to use your hands. It’s a great size for travelling and carrying around in your purse.

I apply the Zit Zapper at night after my Murad Clarifying Cleanser and by morning it has reduced the swelling and redness of my break outs. It’s also great for on the go when a unwanted spot appears right before your date.

Here is a quick Skin Doctors Q&A:

Why do I get pimples?

Pimples usually result from irritation, infection or over-activity of the skin’s oil glands that lead to clogged pores and bacterial infection.

How do pimples develop?

The clogging of skin pores prevents sebum (oil) from travelling to the outer surface of the skin through the pore. The mixture of oil and dead cells allows bacteria that normally live on the skin to grow in the plugged pore.

How does Zit Zapper work?

Zit Zapper is a combination of four active ingredients, tea tree oil, witch hazel, salicylic acid and zinc that work together to cleanse the affected area, help calm inflammation and unclog pores. Some of the active ingredients also have antibacterial properties.

How often will I need to apply Zit Zapper?

The great thing about this cosmetic product is that you only have to apply it directly to your pimples once before bedtime and the next morning the appearance of your pimple should start to improve. Results can vary and a number of applications may be necessary for the best results in certain cases.

A few tips I have discovered in my breakout history:-

  • For breakouts on your body try adding a few drops of lavender or tea tree pure essential oil straight to your bath
  • Look out for products containing salicylic acid, which helps prevent blemishes and penetrates the pores to help clear out impurities.
