Bare Escentuals promises that its natural mineral makeup won’t cause any aggravation to sensitive skin, making it perfect for those with acne or rosacea. Many reviewers claim the products even help to keep their skin clear and blemish free, thanks to the natural ingredients and lack of talc or preservatives which can irritate. It is also naturally SPF15 for an added skin protecting bonus.
The starter kit comes with all the basics you need, including a how-to DVD. The DVD was easy to follow and within only a few minutes I had perfected my technique. I’m not used to using brushes to apply my makeup, usually preferring to apply and blend with my fingertips, but all the brushes you need are included in the set and were easy to use. You get two shades of foundation to help you find your perfect match, which was great for me as I always feel a little lost trying to find the right colour for me when there’s so much choice. The Fairly Light shade suited me best, but I might need something a little warmer if the sun ever comes out long enough to give a bit more colour to my face.
Bare Minerals creates a really natural look and you do feel and look like you are not wearing makeup at all – but all your blemishes are hidden and you give the impression of having naturally flawless skin. I’ve always preferred a natural look, but if you prefer to be more made up you can just add another layer of the mineral foundation for extra coverage.
