Dr. Hauschka Skin Care was founded in 1967 by Elisabeth Sigmund, a cosmetologist and Dr. Rudolf Hauschka, who was a pioneering chemist producing natural medicines using revolutionary techniques. Inspired by the teachings of anthroposophist Rudolf Steiner, Vienna-born chemist Dr. Rudolf Hauschka discovered a way to produce plant extracts without using alcohol as preservative, which was the only option back in the days. The mission of Elisabeth Sigmund and Dr. Rudolf Hauschka has always been enhancing people’s health with natural skin care while healing the earth through biodynamic growing projects and ethical operations.

Respect for nature, the health and wellbeing of all our customers and employees as well as social responsibility is at the centre of all our thinking and actions. Our philosophy is based upon an in-depth understanding of rhythms and how they aid to balance the skin, while harnessing the most effective 100% natural and organic ingredients.

Dr. Hauschka manufacturer (WALA Heilmittel) owns and maintains its own biodynamically cultivated gardens for over sixty years. Many of the botanicals used in Dr. Hauschka Skin Care preparations come from these very gardens. If ingredients haven’t been available in biodynamic or organic form, we have initiated organic cultivation projects around the world.

Our approach to skin care is unique within our industry. All our products are formulated to guide and support the skin’s natural renewal processes rather than taking over its functions. This is why all our night care products are oil-free; at night, your skin flourishes when offered water-based night care products as these allow your skin to breathe freely, regenerate and revitalise. The advantages of this approach are long term health and youth of the skin.
