Melanie and I were lucky enough to recently meet international makeup artist Karim Sataar and have a sneaky preview of his new Dear Eyes… makeup range for Dr Hauschka. He very kindly offered to give us a makeover to show us the versatility of this new range, and here are the results.
Karim always starts his makeovers by making a quick assessment of your skin tone, eye and hair colour, and the colour and style of the clothes and jewellery you are wearing to get an idea of the perfect look for you. For Melanie, he decided she would suit a romantic evening style, and myself a more casual daytime look.
Karim began by applying a touch of concealer to Melanie, covering any small blemishes and shadows. Her skin is so clear the lucky girl didn’t need foundation as well. He then enhanced the top of her brows using Dear Eyes…Kajal Eyeliner and added a touch of brown mascara to her top lashes. This was followed by a generous line of Kajal Eyeliner to the top eyelids which he then smudged up to the crease of her eye socket for a smoky look.
The next product used was the fantastic new Dear Eyes…Eyeshadow Trio Palette. Karim added a touch of pearly rose to Melanie’s inner eye lids and blended it into sparkling nude applied under her eyebrows. On her cheeks Karim used Rose Rouge Powder. He then added a touch of Rose Eyeshadow to her lips to give a hint colour – a little tip to save money, Dear Eyes Trio has multiple uses!
He finished off the look with a gentle spritz of Facial Toner to seal her makeup in place.
For my daytime look he started by preparing Porcelain Translucent Makeup on to the top of the product lid, which he then applied using a stipple brush. This gave a beautiful flawless base without being too heavy.
On my eyes he chose to use the Kajal Eyeliner. He started working from the crease of my eye lids, which really began to define my eyes and I saw an instant difference. Using the smudge side of the liner, he then evenly smudged the colour out onto my eyelids. He then used a Soft Brown Kajal Eyeliner to define my eyebrows, working from the natural top line of the brow across to give lift.
He chose to use the Volume Mascara to define my eyes and chose a black colour. To give me blushed glowing cheeks, he used a few dabs of Warm Red Lipstick from his palm onto my cheeks and followed this with Sparkling Nude from the Dear Eyes…Eyeshadow Trio.
He finished the whole look with the Novum Lipstick in Nature Shimmer for my lips. As I have defined lips, he therefore did not need to use any liner.
We were both very impressed with the Dr Hauschka makeup range, and the variety of looks you can create with it. Look out for new makeup products coming this year specially designed by Karim.
