Not too long ago, the “matte look” was trending and us make-up fanatics were looking like porcelain beauties. However, recently the trend has done a 180 turn and now the trend is the “dewy look”. Did we suddenly realise we aged and therefore needed to look fresher? Who knows, but one thing is for sure, if you do it right you can look like a youthful delight once again!
This is not necessarily the ideal look for the more oily skin types, adding shine to oily skin is only going to make you look greasy. That said, if you do have oily skin and use a mattifying foundation, your natural oils may give you a natural dewy look.
How do you get the dewy look right?
First and for most to achieve that dewy look, a good daily skin routine is paramount. Cleanse, exfoliate, moisturise, and if you have time always double cleanse. You can use which ever cleanser, exfoliater and moisturiser works best for you, but if you want some serious illuminating, trade in your moisturiser for Omorovicza Illuminating Moisturiser, it will not disappoint.
Next, you need a primer that will give you a luminising canvas. We recommend Zelens Satin Primer Illuminating & Hydrating. This will not only hydrate, it also fills in fine lines and wrinkles.
We recommend allowing time for the primer to absorb into a skin a little before applying your foundation. The key to achieving the dewy look, is choosing a subtle and lighter foundation. delilah Time Frame Future Resist Foundation SPF 20 is perfect for this and will compliment your chosen primer and give you a dewy look with its lightweight finish.
Highlighter time! Now, be careful, the last thing we want is reflector face. You can use a cream or powder, which ever you prefer. We suggest a compact and easy to use highlighter like Jane Iredale In Touch Highlighter and apply it to the cheek and brow bone, giving you a natural-looking radiance.
At this stage, you may have reached your dewy look and therefore go and flaunt it!
If however this is not the case and you have become “over dewy” you may need to apply a translucent powder such as, New CID i-finish Translucent Loose Powder under the eyes and on the nose, be careful to not over powder as this will mattify the skin- which will give the opposite effect.
Dewy skin, how should I wear my lips?
When you have perfected your dewy look, you might look at your lips and think “oh eck! I look wet” well the best way to complete your look is choose a mattifying or nude coloured lipstick, this will contrast the texture.
