When I first heard about Ameliorate and their fantastic range of products for Keratosis Pilaris, I was a little confused. I never realised that the bumpy red spotty skin on the back of my arms and legs (otherwise known as “chicken skin”) was actually a medical condition!
How did the brand start out?
Ameliorate was founded in 2012 by Annette Luck and a leading skincare manufacturer. What is Keratosis Pilaris?
Keratosis Pilaris occurs when your hair follicles become blocked with a build-up of keratin. Keratin forms an essential part of the skin’s uppermost layer and it is found on the skin, hair and nails. The blocked hair follicles can appear in many forms but most commonly the skin is left looking rough, red and bumpy. Some sufferers describe the skins appearance as “Goosebumps”

How long will it last? The standard 200ml bottle, if used twice daily over the whole body, should last 4-6 weeks. The supersize bottle (500ml) which should last 10-15 weeks.
What it smells like? The potency of Lactic Acid is noticeable within their products, we think it smells very similar to baby powder. I really like it!
Any other uses? It is uncommonly known that some of the range are very effective for preventing and reducing ingrown hairs.

What are the key ingredients?
- Natural Lactic Acid – Is a naturally occurring AHA (Alpha-hydroxy acid) it helps to break down the bond that attaches the build up of keratin to the hair follicles. It then helps as a natural humectant to encourage moisture from the air into the skin. It also can stimulate healthy skin cells to the surface.
- LaH6 Skin Hydration Complex – A unique and powerful ingredient to intensely moisturise the skin.
- Sweet Almond Oil – a natural oil produced from almond kernels that protects the skin, keeping it soft and smooth.
