By now you’ve probably heard that different types of acids can be an amazing addition to your skincare regime, whatever your skin type.

At Bath & Unwind HQ, we’re forever chasing the dream of having naturally glowing, beautiful looking skin, and we’re achieving that by using acids – from AHA’s, BHAs’, to hylauronic.

Read on to discover more about the benefits of each.

AHA, including Glycolic Acid

AHA, or alpha hydroxy acids – including Glycolic acid, exfoliate the top layers of your skin, uncovering smoother, more refined looking and positively glowing skin!

Products with higher levels of AHA, and when used regularly, can also boost collagen to firm and plump your skin.

If you have sensitive skin, reduce your AHA use to 2 or 3 times a week and always use SPF.

Products Containing AHA’s

Liquid Gold | Alpha H

The resurfacing power of 5% glycolic acid and licorice extract works to smooth and brighten the complexion, tackling uneven or congested skin whilst collagen production is boosted, resulting in increased firmness and elasticity.

These easy to use Resurfacing Pads help to promote a clear and even skin tone by tackling a range of concerns from breakouts to fine lines.

Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic | REN

REN’s Ready Steady Glow AHA Tonic is a radiance-enhancing toner that resurfaces the skin, unclogs pores and naturally exfoliates, whilst being gentle enough for every day use.

BHA

BHA, or beta hydroxy acid, is oil soluble, and therefore good for oily, spot prone skin. It can penetrate beneath the skins surface to clean out pores and reduce oiliness. It’s also ideal for sensitive skin, as BHA’s have soothing properties. Salicylic acid is a commonly used BHA ingredient, and something to look out for if your clogged pores need some TLC.

Acid Fix  |  Omorovicza

Acid Fix works overnight to help reverse the adverse effects caused by acne, pollution and sun damage. Containing the combined powers of two potent exfoliating agents, glycolic and salicylic acids, the surface of the skin is resurfaced, improving pigmentation for an even-toned complexion whilst enhancing your skins natural cell renewal.

No:Rinse Intensive Pore Minimizing Toner  |  Perricone MD

Ideal for oily skin types, it uses DMAE (dimethylaminoethanol, a compound found in fish) and salicylic acid to tighten the pores, smooth the complexion and refresh.

Hylauronic Acid

Hylauronic acid is a wonder ingredient for dry, dehydrated skin. It works as a magnet for moisture, making your skin plump, soft and healthy. Hydrated skin also means lines and wrinkles are less visible – it’s your go-to for anti-ageing and hydration.

In summary

The addition of an acid to your skincare regime could help you to achieve that natural glow that’s always been there, but has perhaps become dulled down by every day factors like pollution, sun damage, and dead skin. Choose the acid that’s right for you and your skin, or a formula that contains more than one type, and always follow the directions on the bottle.
