With the festive season well and truly behind us, last week I made a few resolutions regarding my skincare routine, motivated mainly by catching a glimpse of myself in the cold harsh light of January and the creeping realisation that I can’t hide behind metallic eye makeup and mulled wine any longer.
I was surprised at how tired my skin was looking, and lines I had previously barely noticed seemed more pronounced, but with my post-Christmas budget unlikely to be able to stretch to professional salon treatments anytime soon, I decided to test some home use products with a little more oomph than I perhaps would normally use. The House Calls range from celebrity favourite dermatologist Dr Brandt(known as the Baron of Botox) promises just this, with a line of high potency formulations to provide the closest thing to professional procedures that you can get without leaving the house.
My problem areas.
Dr Brandt’s Laser A-Peel Systemwas the first product I tried. It is a 2-step skin peeling product which promises to exfoliate dead skin cells and reveal smoother, firmer skin. The peeling solution and soothing gel were easy to apply, and my skin didn’t feel irritated afterwards. In fact a few hours later I was still amazed by the healthy glow my face had, and the effects have lasted about a week, (Dr Brandt recommend you only use this once a week, and be careful to use UV protection on your face as it can make your skin more sensitive to the sun).
To supplement this I have also been using Dr Brandt’s Crease Release every day. I heard many good things about this wrinkle relaxing cream last year, and decided to try it out now I have accepted my facial lines could use some attention. The first thing I noticed about Crease Release was the tingling and cooling sensation after applying it. I’m not sure if it is a face lift in a jar but there has certainly been a noticeable reduction in the lines, particularly on my forehead, which seems to last for most of the day after I apply Crease Release in the morning.
Effective and affordable if used correctly, I will definitely carry on using these products. Thanks Dr Brandt!
