What’s Hot in November

IsabellaIsabella Blow: Fashion Galore!

Attention style mavens! Somerset House hails the arrival of one of fashion’s most iconic wardrobes. Over 100 pieces owned by the late Isabella Blow are on loan from Daphne Guinness and go on display this month – there’s sure to be a stampede! Famous for her eccentric sense of style (necklaces shaped like lobsters, hats shaped like…well, everything!) and for her genius in championing some serious fashion talents, including Alexander McQueen, Philip Treacy and Sophie Dahl, this show is guaranteed to make even Lady Gaga look tame! The exhibition runs from 20th November – 2nd March. Tickets are £12.50 (£10 concessions and £6.25 on Mondays).

Bearfaced Chic

Bearfaced Chic for Charity

We love a good cause and we’re all on board with Children in Need’s brilliant Go BearFaced campaign. Taking place on November 8th, you can get involved by simply picking up a Pudsey paw print tattoo from your local post office (or you can snaffle one online) and wearing it proudly on a makeup-free face. A whole raft of super celebs, like the gorgeous Suki Waterhouse, are giving maquillage the old heave-ho for the day and popping on a paw print instead.

Banishing those ‘I have nothing to wear’ moments

Cold, dark and frequently a bit drizzly, November mornings are no time to be dithering over what to wear. If you’ve got a bit stuck in the favourite jumper/trusty-jeans rut then download genius style app Stylebook. Not only does it help you to catalogue your existing wardrobe, save a gallery of favourite outfit combos, plus help you decide if that pricey new jacket will REALLY work with your current clothing, it also saves on holiday packing lists and keeps track of items you just don’t wear. Please can someone invent one for makeup?

Natural Makeup

Mini Trend – Shoot from the Lip

Makeup is going minimal (yep, even our beloved eyeliner is out of favour) but lipstick is still going strong. Once your base is in place just brush a little mascara onto your lashes before slicking on a pout-enhancing rouge. Try Laqa & Co.’s Ring of Fire for a flaming gorgeous look!

Baby, You’re a Firework!

Bonfire night is nearly upon us, but why let the sparklers do all the dazzling? Take a (gold) leaf out of the Spring/Summer 2014 catwalk look books and add a glimmer of gold to your usual look. Add a subtle sheen with This Works’s Shimmer Balm, go on a gilt trip with OPI’s When Monkeys Fly! or be brave and do a Dior by dusting your eyelids and brows with Jane Iredale’s 24-Karat Gold Dust. Precious metal power!

H & M

Isabel Marant for H&M

The doyenne of laid-back-with-a-twist French fashion is bringing a standout capsule collection to our favourite high street hotspot. WE. CANNOT. WAIT. With its big helping of cozy-cool oversized knits and super-chic chiffon dresses, the clothing can do all the talking whilst hair and makeup stays low-key. Spritz Alterna’s Boho Waves Texture Mist to get the look. The collection hits stores and goes online on November 14th.
