This week marked the 100 day countdown to Christmas. (Yes Santa, you better start wrapping up my presents!) And this brought me back down to Earth with a little bit of a bump – I was still holding out for our summer! Oh well, as the days are already starting to get shorter, I suppose I better store the bikinis away and dig out my fluffy hat and mittens. (Yes, I do wear a fluffy hat, and yes, it does also have little ears on the top!) As I know my skin reacts badly when the wind starts to pick up and get colder, I thought this year prevention would be better than cure so I am going to start protecting my skin from the cold right away. And here is how I’m going to do it…Every single year, just around October time, I get awful red and dry skin all over my chin, just beneath my lips. This is neither cool nor attractive, in fact, it looks like I have dribbled Cherryade all down my face and haven’t bothered to wipe it off. So, this year, I am going to replace my moisturiser with Barefoot Botanicals SOS Rescue Me Face & Body Cream. This has worked wonders on my dry and tight hands, and can be used on skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. If my calculations are correct, applying this every day before bed and before I head off to work in the morning should help soothe and rehydrate my skin before I head out into the cold again. Genius!
My Lips:
Every winter I face a dilemma. Do I wear lipstick to add that necessary splash of colour to my face, or do I wear lip balm to stop my lips from chapping and to keep them lovely and soft? Well, this year I don’t have to sacrifice either, as I have recently discovered Carmex’s Moisture Plus Lip Balm in Pink. This lip balm is infused with vitamin E and aloe vera to nourish and protect my lips, whilst bursting with a pink shimmer to keep me looking as glam as possible through the winter months!
My Hands:
I’m sure we have all been in that situation when we are walking from A to B and we suddenly realise we have forgotten our gloves. This is annoying as not only are our hands getting cold, but as if by magic, as soon as we realise we are too far away to run home to get them our hands all of a sudden feel tight and rough. This is exactly why I am ensuring that this year I have Crabtree & Evelyn’s La Source Mini 60 Second Hand Cream tucked firmly away in my coat pocket. These handy little travel sizes mean that whenever we are out and about, we can make sure our hands are being protected from the harsh weather. Another plus is that these little tubes look so nice, we won’t mind showing them off in public!
