Jetting off on holiday? Wonderful. Worrying about what on earth you should be packing in that all-important makeup bag? Not so wonderful… To help you navigate your way through whatever the summer might throw at your skin, the Bath & Unwind team have shared their top travel picks, and a few other summer must-haves to see you through that heatwave in style.
Decleor Arome Tonic
Perfume can be a bit heavy, plus I usually stock up in duty free(!), but this super refreshing mist smells incredible and is beautifully cooling when you get too hot in the sun.
This Works Time Dose Mask
For days when, despite my best efforts, I catch a bit too much sun. I leave it on overnight for a plumped, cooled complexion but you can use it as per a normal mask if you just need a quick hit of hydration.
Rituals Laughing Buddha Happiness Body Cream
I slather on suncream during the day (for which, see Ultrasun!) but when I’ve had a shower and am about to breeze out for dinner and a drink I want something fragrant and nourishing. This silky cream smells incredible and will keep your skin gleaming.
A breezy cotton sundress (or two)
Nothing in your holiday wardrobe works harder. Throw it on over your swimming costume for the beach, add a jewelled sandal and a broad-brimmed hat for sight-seeing, or pair with a cute bag and bright earrings for a drink in the evening. This Asos beauty is top of my wishlist.
Caudalie Cleansing Water
Perfect for a refreshing pick-me-up after a day in the heat – it’s so light and cooling!
Gatineau Melatogenine Refreshing Cleansing Cream
A creamy cleanser is a must for fresh skin. This one is gorgeous, you can really feel it melting away all the suncream that can feel really heavy on your face by the end of the day.
bareMinerals makeup
I couldn’t imagine going without bareMinerals whilst on holiday – it’s so light, which is perfect for the evenings in the heat, and the foundations also contain a little SPF!
My Kindle
My top non-beauty travel essential – I love having hundreds of books at my fingertips ready for a day relaxing in the sun!
Phyto Huile Sublimante
This is already on my wish list for Glastonbury as it’s a perfect multi-tasker to take with me! A gorgeously scented oil for your body and hair, it comes with a spray so it’s quick and easy to apply without getting messy.
This Works Perfect Legs Skin Miracle
This is ideal for quickly applying to your legs before an evening out. Voila, a lovely sun-kissed glow! Tip: wash your hands afterwards to avoid the tell-tale orange fingers!
Wellies
A festival must-have, just in case the famous British weather decides to strike (fingers crossed it won’t)!
Ultrasun Sports Spray SPF 50
Absorbs straight into your skin so you don’t have sticky skin that attracts sand in all the wrong places!
Cowshed Roll-On Perfume Oils
Small enough to pack in your hand luggage and such a choice of gorgeous fragrances! My favourites at the moment are Grumpy Cow and Lazy Cow.
TanOrganic Self Tanning Oil
Before I go, this natural and luxurious oil is an absolute must to give me a natural golden glow without the streaks. Oh, and the added bonus? It has an amazing citrus fragrance.
A chic beach bag
This H&M number would be perfect for holding all my on-the-go beauty bits, plus sunnies and a good book.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant SPF 15
I am a little bit addicted to this! Not only does it give you sun protection but it keeps your lips from drying out whilst you’re enjoying the sunshine.
L’Anza Healing Colorcare Trauma Treatment
My coloured, curly hair turns into a knotty mess after a day of swimming. I keep the mini Trauma Treatment in my bag and run a comb through it as soon as I get out of the sea.
Caudalie Divine Oil
I love the smell of this and it’s a great way to restore moisture. It doesn’t sit on top of the skin like a lot of after sun lotions and it leaves you smelling great, I don’t even need to pack perfume!
A bat and ball set
I can never spend more than half an hour lounging on a sunbed before I need to get up and do something energetic. My dad used to play with us and hit the ball into the sea so we had to swim and get it. A great way to wear out the kids!
Korres Vetiver Root, Green Tea & Cedarwood Eau de Toilette
I like to smell delicious on a night out (of course)!
Elemis Time for Men S.O.S. Survival Cream
This is my all-time favourite moisturiser as it’s great for oily skin (which can go into overdrive when the temperature goes up). It keeps my skin clear and matte.
Fudge Elevate Styling Powder
Makes my quiff go MASSIVE and keeps it that way all day long.
OPI Live.Love.Carnaval
A coral red is my summer staple, and the colour was big news on all the catwalks this year.
Trilogy Everything Balm
I use it on my hands, lips and nails to keep them healthy and hydrated – and because it’s travel size I can pack less, perfect!
My Kindle Fire
I like to think that on holidays I can finish all the books I’ve started…but I usually end up browsing the gossip websites instead!
Alba Botanica Natural Hawaiian Dry Oil Sunscreen Nourishing Coconut Oil SPF 15
It rubs in wonderfully, smells gorgeous and gives skin a healthy, glowy sheen!
Butter London Trout Pout
I can’t be seen without nail polish on my toes… and this colour looks great with a tan!
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant
This is my all-time favourite beauty product; great on dry skin and lips, and super soothing on burnt skin!
Also, I would never travel anywhere without some Twinings Earl Grey Tea bags! I wouldn’t want anyone to see me in the morning without a cup of tea.
Murad Pore Reform Balancing Moisturizer SPF 15
This is really good; it doesn’t aggravate my sensitive skin but gives a little protection and tackles visible pores.
Carmex Mint Tube SPF 15
This tingly balm is good in the sun and the cold, also on drying planes and trains.
A hat and sunglasses
Completely essential with my fair complexion!
