Interview with Emily Davies, beauty buyer

Head buyer, beauty editor and qualified facialist Emily Davies stays true to her principles when choosing beauty brands for Bath & Unwind. We caught up with her to find out more about her role – and more importantly, find out what’s in her hand bag!

What do you love most about your job?

I love the science behind our brands and how this translates into products that work. The beauty industry is constantly changing and evolving so it’s really exciting to be part of it – and of course I get to try some amazing beauty products!

What sets Bath & Unwind apart from other beauty sites?

Our customer experience is something we pride ourselves on – our site is so fresh and user-friendly, even my Mum enjoys shopping online (which is a rarity). We really are passionate about what we do and believe in the products we sell.

What are some of your favourite products?

I am constantly discovering and testing new beauty treats – right now bath and body oils are my latest addiction, especially those with lavender which help me relax and unwind (Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax), and oils containing rose or rosehip for my face and body (Neal’s Yard Remedies and This Works), which transform dull, dehydrated skin into a glowing success.

What are some lesser-known brands that you would like people to know about?

Lubatti skincare is a beautiful new brand based on classic, original skincare, which is very refreshing. It’s a capsule range that will suit everyone and the packaging is a work of art in itself.  Phytomer is another favourite at Bath & Unwind, deliciously scented skin and body products that are full of ground breaking marine based ingredients – essential for healthy skin to rebalance any skin type.

Would you like to share a great beauty tip for our readers?

The hard work needs to come before you use any beauty products, as often we use beauty products as ‘problem solvers’ rather than a nice addition to our beauty routine. Drink plenty of water, make time to dry body brush, exercise little and often and never underestimate the power of regular exfoliation to make your skin glow!

And finally – what’s in your hand bag?
